Q&A

Reiki is just energy

After being given a brief description of reiki many of you may be wondering what to expect in a reiki session. Below are common questions most people have asked. Feel free to ask if you have any questions not answered below.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is involved in a reiki session?

A: The person receiving healing (receiver) is in a relaxed position, either lying down on their back or stomach, or sitting in a chair.  The reiki practitioner hovers their hands several inches above the receiver’s body and are a channel for the healing energy .

Q: Are there any side effects?

A: It is common for people to feel relaxed and fall asleep during a reiki session. One may also feel warmth or a tingling sensation throughout their body.

Q: Will I feel any pain?

A: The reiki energy itself is not painful. However, as trapped energy is dislodged, moves to the surface of the skin and is released, one may feel a slight discomfort and then a relief of pain.

Q: What conditions can reiki be used to treat?

A: Reiki is not a cure but helps the body heal itself from a range of diseases and physical injuries. Reiki can work for mild discomforts such as headaches, pain from long term injuries and for symptoms of various ailments such as cancer and heart disease. Reiki energy is very powerful.

Q: Do I need to stop other forms of treatment before trying reiki?

A: Reiki works well in combination of other treatments and it is not recommended to stop them in place of reiki. It is advised for receivers of reiki to continue meeting with one’s health care practitioners and to not stop any medication regimens  until after consulting with their physician.

Q: How long will it take to feel the effects of reiki?

A: Most people notice a improvement in their health during the first session and some recognize a change a few days later.

Q: How often should I get a reiki treatment?

A: Once a week to once a month is ideal but it depends on the purpose and the progression of treatment.

Pre-Treatment-

Before your session please be aware that all you need to do is have an open mind to receive healing.  You don’t have to understand all the components of reiki to benefit from it, only that reiki is healing energy that will heal what it needs to be healed. Feel free to check out the question and answer section above.

Post- Treatment-

After the session is over you will be directed to drink plenty of water to flush the negative energy out. You will also be directed to get up slowly as some people feel a bit dizzy right after the reiki treatment, this feeling goes away after drinking water.
